With more than a decade’s worth of experience in the entertainment industry, Justin Hughes knows his way behind, in front of and inside a camera. After graduating from Rutgers University with a degree in journalism, Justin dedicated himself to learning every inch of the creative film-making process which is why he can seamlessly transition from writer to director to producer.
Justin began his career working for NBC in New York and during his tenure he worked in production covering presidential elections and the Olympic Games and shows such as “Saturday Night Live” and the “Today Show.”
Since relocating to Los Angeles, Justin focuses on creating ‘human interest genre films’ featuring dynamic characters grappling topical themes. Justin’s work has been screened at the Austin Film Festival, the LA Film Festival and the HollyShorts Film Festival. His screenplays have placed in a variety of prestigious contests, including the Academy Nicholl Fellowships, the PAGE Awards and the Tracking Board Launch Pad Competition. He’s also produced branded content for companies such as Apple, Disney, PBS and T-Mobile.
As a humanistic filmmaker, Justin’s process is one in which art imitates life. The line separating his own life from his work is often blurred, and he uses his personal experiences to inspire his creative point of view.
